Frodo sat listening to Lord Elrond, not knowing what is to become of the ring of power, that was passed down to him by his cousin, Bilbo. A large weight in his heart, he had a strong feeling that this wouldn't be the end of his journey.
'The Ring must be cast back into the fiery chasm from whence it came. One of you must do this' The sound of the wise elf's voice sent a shiver down Frodo's spine. Of all the people in the council, one of them would take on the task, carry the Ring right into the fires of Mordor. He had a deep suspicion that he would end up being the Ring Bearer. As an argument broke out between the residence of the council, he took a long look at the last free peoples of Middle Earth. Elve's were the wisest and fairest of all beings, pointed ears, tall straight figures, sharp hearing and sight. Dwarves, the great craftsmen of the mountain halls, short in stature, long bearded but strong. And men, tall, strong fighting men.
A few representatives of these races were present at the council, all arguing over who would take the Ring on this journey, that would most certainly claim their lives. Mordor, a barren waste land, covered with flame and fire, home to the dark lord Sauron, nine Witch-Kings and countless Orc's and dark men. In the very fire's of Mordor, Sauron is massing an army large enough to wipe out the free peoples of Middle Earth. Soon he will attack, and take back what is his. The One Ring. The thing he desires more then anything, with that in his hand, he will rule the Earth.
Suddenly Frodo decided what he must do, 'I will take it. I will take the ring to Mordor' He shouted over the others. Gradually the argument broke down and everyone turned to look at Frodo. 'Though, I do not know the way.'
'I will help you bear this burden, Frodo. For as long as it is yours to bear.' This was from Gandalf. An old wizard friend of Frodo and Bilbo. He is both wise and powerful, though his appearance wasn't quite like the rest of the councils, tall, clothed in grey, holding a long wooden staff and wearing a pointy hat on his head. Seven other people agreed to help Frodo with his quest, which was more then he expected.
Aragorn - A tall, haggard looking human, who was Isildurs heir to the throne of Gondor. He had guided Frodo and his other hobbit companions from the village of Bree to Rivendell, where the Council of Elrond took place. He dressed in blacks and browns, and at his side there was a long silver sword.
Legolas - Son of king Thranduil of the woodland elve's. His home was in the middle of a forest called Mirkwood, he had large, bright blue eyes, long blonde hair (as most elve's do) and he was slightly taller then Aragorn. Being a fine archer, he bore the greatest of bows and a quiver of arrows.
Gimli - Being a dwarf, he was rather short. He stood next to Frodo in a confident way and he leaned slightly on his double headed battle axe, which he carried with great pride.
Boromir - Another man, the son of Gondor, which is the city his father is steward of. Like Aragorn, he had with him a strong sword and a huge round shield.
Sam - Frodo's guardian, (and also his gardener!) he promised Gandalf that he would look after Frodo on their journey to Rivendell, he wasn't willing to give up his job there! He is a hobbit, half the size of a normal man, his race live in holes in the ground made into very comfy living places.
Merry - Also a hobbit, the same as Frodo and Sam. He helped them get to the village of Bree and hadn't entered to go any further, but he was willing to travel on with his hobbit friends.
Pippin - Merry's friend that, back home, he caused mischief with! He didn't actually know what he was volunteering to do, but he wanted to follow Merry.

With the fellowship chosen, everybody exited the room quietly talking between themselves. All except Frodo. He stayed in the room thinking about his long journey ahead, checking that nobody else was in the room, he took out the ring. Old as it was the ring had no scratches or markings and he thought to himself 'how could something so small cause so much worry and danger?'. While he rolled the ring between his fingers, a tall, dark haired elf walked into the room, he stood in front of Frodo and bowed his head.
'Good Evening young master, there is someone to see you, they are waiting inside your room.' Bowing his head again, the elf walked out of the room.
'Thank-you' whispered Frodo, he was thinking who this could be all the way back to his temporary living quarters.
When he arrived outside his room, he put his ear against the door, he couldn't hear anyone inside. Could the elf have made a mistake? Placing his hand on the door knob, he took a deep breath, opened the door and cautiously walked into the room. There, leaning against the window sill was a tall, hooded figure dressed in a dark green cloak, with their back turned to him.
'Erm…Hello?' said Frodo tensely.
A hand came out of the cloak and gently pushed the hood back, but still Frodo could not see the face. All he knew was that this person from the race of the elve's, with the pointy ears and long light hair. The figure took a deep breath and turned round. Frodo's eyes widened at the female that stood before him, though she looked worn from a long journey, she still appealed to him as being very beautiful and friendly. Her blue eyes and golden hair shone in the light of the room.
'Hello, Frodo.' She said politely as she kneeled down so she could look directly into his eyes. Although they had only just met, her smile held a fondness that Frodo had never seen before.
'Who are you?' He said a little too roughly as he looked straight back into the woman's eyes.
'My name is Lómadia daughter of Sóman, of the woodland realm.' This was said in a positive steady voice. 'I come from a village called, Esgaroth on the border of Mirkwood.' Frodo nodded slowly, this was a village he had heard of, his cousin Bilbo had travelled there and written about it in his book.
'Why did you travel all this way to see me?' At this, the smile on Lómadia's face faded, she stood up and walked back top lean on the window sill.
'I've known about the Ring for a long time, I remember your cousin, Bilbo. He spoke often of you when he was last in our village, he told me all about the Ring he found in a cave.' Frodo nodded, remembering what his cousin had told him. 'I have come to ask you if I can accompany you in destroying the One Ring that has caused so much hurt to this world.' Lómadia sighed at the baffled look on the hobbits face.
'The fellowship has already been chosen, we leave at dawn, on the day after tomorrow.'
'I will speak with Lord Elrond and ask him personally. Please let me join you, destroying that stupid band is my destiny, it's the only thing to do that will restore me to my old untroubled self.' Frodo couldn't resist the pleading look in the elf's eyes, though he was slightly surprised by her story.
'Okay Lómadia' he smiled and stood beside her at the window sill. 'If Lord Elrond agrees, then I will be happy to welcome you to our fellowship. Though the journey will not be easy.' He warned.
'Oh I know, it's a risk I'm prepared to take, thank-you Frodo.' Her smile was back. She fell to her knees, her eyes blaring with a bright twinkle, she wrapped her arms around Frodo and hugged him tightly. 'I will go and talk to the Lord Elond now.' She jumped up and exited the room silently, leaving Frodo standing slightly puzzled.
