Epilogue

When Lómadia walked into the garden, all eyes turned to stare at her. she wore a pure white dress, that hung loosely from her waist and fell to the ground in waves of silk. Though she was feeling dissappointed that Todia wasn’t there, she forced herself to smile as she advanced to the altar, where Legolas, Aen and King Thranduil stood. Her bare feet felt the coldness of the stones beneath her. still, she wore Legolas’ mother’s necklace.

Old friends had turned up congratulate the two elves. Lómadia was so happy to see the fellowship again. None of them had changed in the slightest, they were exactly the how she remembered them. Three people were there, though, that had not been part of the fellowship. Sam’s wife, Rosie, was there. as well as their hobbit daughter Elanor. Frodo had also aquired himself a wife. the young and fair, Jaeniver of Buckland.

As Lómadia walked down the steps to the temporary alter, she smiled at them all and gave everyone a hug. the strong scent of roses flowed into her nostrils, making her eyes water.

Legolas felt his heart skip a beat as Lómadia walked towards him. a smile on her face, but her eyes didn’t hold that light that showed her true happiness.

‘What is wrong, Lómadia?’ Legolas asked as she drew level with him.

‘Todia’s not here, I thought she would turn up.’

‘Shall we wait for a while? see if she arrives?’ Legolas asked, cupping her cheek in his hand. To this, Lómadia shook her head violently. ‘Go ahead, Father.’ He took hold of Lómadia’s hand and turned to face the king.

‘Good. Now, we are here today....’ The king began, but a loud shout from the other side of the Garden distracted them.

‘WAIT!’ Todia came running up to them, ignoring the fact that everyone was staring at her, shocked. ‘Lómadia, I need to talk to you in private, just for a minute.’ Todia pulled her friend into the trees. Lómadia shot a confused look at Legolas.

‘Lómadia, I am so sorry. I never meant to be late, or ignore you. I’ve just had other things on my mind.’ Lómadia quickly took an apple from a nearby tree and rammed it into Todia’s mouth.

‘Todia, you’re babbling. Your here now so dont worry. But, I want you to tell me why you’ve been ignoring me lately.’

‘Ok.’ Todia said, through a mouth full of apple. ‘Lets go get you married.’ She grabbed hold of Lómadia’s arm and pulled her back to the garden, discarding the apple on the way.

‘Thank you, Todia.’ Lómadia rejoined Legolas before his father. ‘Sorry,’ She mouthed silently. Legolas smiled and took hold of her hands in his. A war,th spread through her. A sensation that she only felt when Legolas touched her.

‘Now we are all here, again, I will continue.’ The king spoke with a wide smile on his face. ‘We are here today to join my only son and this beautiful girl, in a marrige that will last until the end of time. May they be happy together, and have many children.’ This, everyone could tell was a hint. Obviously, the King wanted many grand children. ‘And may the past be forgotten and future be remembered.’ Lómadia smiled even wider, and gently squeezed Legolas’ hands. ‘Is there anyone here at present, that disagree’s to this joining of hearts?’ Luckily, no one spoke out. ‘In that case, I pronounce you, husband and wife.’ Legolas gently slippedthe plain silver band onto Lómadia’s finger (She had refused to were a gold ring, as it reminded her of the past) and kissed her passionately, while everyone else cheered.

That night, celebrations went on until early morning. Lómadia danced to the music provided with everyone. All the time, Legolas watched his new wife closely, a happiness burning up inside him, a feeling that only he knew about. He spoke with every member of the fellowship, though he had only said goodbye to them a few weeks ago, he enjoyed being with them again. But Lómadia hadn’t seen them for just over two years. So that days experience was completely different for her then it was for him.

After a lovely, well needed feast, the dancing begun. First, Legolas danced with Lómadia, but she was dragged away by the hobbit’s, then by Gimli, the Aragorn. So Legolas decided that he may need to book his wife for the time of their next dance together. Todia and Jaeniver got on very well, Rosie would have been with them, but poor little Elanor was very tired, so she and Sam had gone off to bed. But not without wishing Lómadia and Legolas a long, perfect life life together.

After Legolas and Lómadia had danced together, they spent a few minutes alone, away from the festivities. They hugged, and kissed, and generally had some time to just enjoying being with each other. Then they rejoined the dance, hand in hand, though quickly afterwards, Lómadia was dragged away again, this time by the apple loving Todia.

‘I’ll only be a minute.’ Todia said when they reached the epmty courtyard. ‘I just want to explain, and I don’t want you to take anything out on Legolas. You two are perfect for each other, I don’t want to ruin what you have.’

‘What are you on about, Todia?’ Lómadia asked, very confused.

‘Why I’ve been ignoring you.’ Before she carried on, Todia took a deep breath. ‘Legolas and I were great friends in our youth. And as time went on, our friendship grew stronger, much stronger. He asked me to marry him, but I refused, I wasn’t ready to settle down. Instead, I chose to move to Lothlórien, a place where I had always wanted to go. So I did, and in doing that, I broke Legolas’ heart. Sana, my disowned sister, was apparently there to comfort him

‘She took things too far, way too far. So far, in fact, that she got herself pregnant, with Legolas’ child.’

‘I don’t see what this has to do with me Todia. Legolas loves me, he’s the only person that ever has.’ Lómadia tried to walk away, but Todia caught hold of her wrist and kept her back.

‘I’m telling you why I’ve been ignoring you. Even after what he did to me, I still felt something for him. I guess, I’m just, you know. Jealous I suppose. I’m really sorry Lómadia, you’re my best friend, i would never do anything to hurt you. But I can’t help the way I feel.’

‘I know you can’t’ Lómadia said quietly. ‘It’s the way you feel, and I know you will take this no further. No one had ever been jealous of me, it feels kind of, special. Anyway, what happened to Sana and her child?’

‘The pregnancy killed her. I didn’t care, neither did Legolas. He hated her for what happened between them. But I have never forgiven Legolas.’

‘Todia, please. Try and get on with Legolas. I couldn’t bear it if the two special people in my life couldn’t stand being together.’

‘I’ll try, Lómadia, for you.’ The two hugged then walked back to the party, where they danced, until the first light of dawn appeared on the horizon. Legolas took Lómadia back to his room, where she slept soundlessly with her head leaning against his chest. He held her tightly, and he too slept, well into the afternoon of the next day.

* * * * *

A few days had passed, when the hobbit’s anounced that they would rather stay in Mirkwood then return home to The Shire, and that they did. Aragorn returned to his throne in Gondor, and Gimlie ventured once again, to the city of Charas Galadhon, to meet with the Lady Galadriel. Lómadia was extremely happy that the hobbit’s would be staying with them for a long time.

After two years, the hobbit’s did return to the Shire, where they had happy lives together, though they missed Lómadia and Legolas greatly. For they had become very close friends.

As the years passed on, the relationship between Lómadia, Legolas, Todia and Aen gre stronger. Even Todia and Legolas rekindled an old flame, not as bright and big as the one they had in their youth. But they certainly put their differences behind them. After around 250 years of being married, Lómadia now bore a child. Their first born was a boy, called Colas, who looked remarkably like his father. Then, a hundred years later, Legolas and Lómadia had a second child. This time a girl, who was named Mydia. The elvish word for princess.

With their new family, Lómadia, Legolas, Colas and Mydia spent many years of happiness together. Legolas still loved Lómadia, she had definately made him the happiest elf in Middle-Earth. Todia and Aen were not forgotten, they became very much part of the family. King Thranduil had had a home built specially for them. Set out in the trees, not too far away from the Kings hall. He was, after all. still Legolas’ father, and very much a father to Lómadia too.

So the years went on, no more wars, no more pain. The grave of Sóman lay forgotten on the outskirts of the forest, completely mossed over and weathered. All memories of him were erased from Lómadia’s head, Thranduil was noe her father.

On Colas’ one thousandth birthday, the King announced his retirement. He gave up his post as king to Legolas. Who, at first, refused to be king, but with the blessings of his lovely wife, son and daughter, he took over the role as leader of Mirkwood. Thranduil left the forest, travelled to the Grey Havens, beyond the White towers. Where he took the ship to Valinor, the undying lands. In later years, he would be joined their, by his son, daughter in law and their best friends, Aen and Todia.
